"Unshatter" is the title of a song on the deluxe edition of From Zero and one of three new songs included on the release, with "Up From The Bottom" and "Let You Fade."

Background

In regards to new music, Colin Brittain in September 2024 commented that Linkin Park was already working on new songs that would possibly be released in 2025, saying, "There's also couple of songs that we haven't released yet that are may or may not come out next year, that we're still working on, they are really amazing."[1] Just over a month later, at the end of October, between legs of the From Zero World Tour and just before the European shows in November, the band was posting various photos on social media at Mike's home studio. Mike included a video of Emily in the vocal booth in these series of posts.[2]

Around the release of From Zero, Mike's comments about the album's length indicated the band likely had more songs from the sessions as well, saying, "By the way -- just to set your expectation, the "running time" of the album is not long. It's a compact little fireball. I wanted it so good and so concise that you'd want to listen to it multiple times in a row."[3]

With the announcement of the deluxe edition of the album, the band's website said, ""Unshatter" was an early track we made while recording From Zero; Emily's huge vocal in the bridge was one of the moments that gave us an indication of what was possible together."[4]

Mike and Emily sat down a few weeks before the band returned, in September 2024, and had a conversation that was recorded and released as "From Zero: A Conversation with Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong" on October 18, 2024. In this conversation, it was revealed that when Emily first started working with Linkin Park, some of the first demos she sang on were called "Unshatter" and "Vertigo," the latter dating around 2019. "Unshatter" was one of three demos mentioned in the conversation, the latter coming from a story they told about working on a song called "Breathing Underwater" around 2023 when Mike, Joe, and Dave brought Emily into a room and broke the news to her that they would be possibly playing some shows and would like for her to join them.[5] "Unshatter" is one of the earliest tracks the band worked on with Emily.
