"Two Faced" is the eighth track from Linkin Park's eighth studio album, From Zero.
Background
"Two Faced" harkens back to Linkin Park's early sound, with a downtuned guitar riff, rapped verses from Mike Shinoda, a powerful chorus from Emily Armstrong, and a heavy bridge breakdown featuring scratching from Joe Hahn and Emily's screaming.
Mike described the song, "Two Faced was intended to be... the idea was to write something that would be pre-Linkin Park. Everybody thinks of Linkin Park like, we're here in 2024, what's this change, what's happening today? I wanted to remind them that there was a time in the band before we had ever met Chester, when me and my friend Mark were doing vocals. I wanted to do something kind of in that style, and that's how Two Faced started."[1] After the song "Overflow", there is a Xero sample of the song "Fuse" along with a tape flip sound included as a transition to the next song.
Brad and Mike both wrote the guitar parts to "Two Faced" together.[2]
When asked about comparisons to "One Step Closer", Mike said, "I think that comparison is funny, I see the similarities but it seems like a comparison made by people who don't know our catalog super well."[3]

Music Video
The music video for "Two Faced" was directed by Joe Hahn and produced by WL Boyd. The features the band having fun performing the song on their launch stage that they used for their September 5 event announcing their return. It was filmed two days before the event, on September 3, 2024.[4]
When directing the video, Joe instructed the band to get very close to the camera for many takes. The band performed the song at double speed for some takes to exaggerate their actions, as is common for past video shoots. The crew members working with the band on the show joined for a shot, which featured toward the end of the video, including Adam Ruehmer. During the filming process, Emily injured her knee. The whole shoot was done in 5 hours on an off day of rehearsals and was put together very quickly.[5]
Mr. Hahn said, "We had that stage that was going to go away right after the launch event, and I was like, 'This thing looks too cool to not shoot.'" The shoot almost didn't happen according to Mike, "because I wanted to stay focused on the launch and not get worn out by a long video shoot... but it ended up being a great time, and one of the best videos we've done."[6]
Mike played guitar for some scenes of the video (not all), but does not play guitar live on the song.

Release
"Two Faced" was released on November 13, 2024 at 3pm PST alongside its music video. The band dropped the song and video by surprise, not giving any indication beforehand that the song would drop. From Zero was released two days later on November 15, 2024.
Live
Speaking to press in Asia in September 2024, Emily Armstrong said "Two Faced" is the song she is most excited to perform live with Linkin Park. She said that the track is "really fun live." Other songs mentioned included "Casualty" and "Overflow," saying "Those three, I think, were the ones we've kinda been talking about... like, really wanting to explore live. I think we're gonna do some rehearsals when we get home and, you know, put it into our live set."[8] This came to fruition at the album release show in Sao Paulo, where the song replaced 'Points Of Authority' in Act 1 of the set. The song had a short extended intro from Joe, and the instrumental buildup to the bridge was repeated so Mike could rile up the crowd.

Lyrics
Get right
Last time I was hanging by a thread
Trying to say I'm not but I'm in it over my head
That's when I figured out where it led
Beginning to realize that you put me over the edge
Your truth's not rigid, your rules aren't fair
The dark's too vivid, the light's not there
I start to give in, but I can't bear
To put it all behind, I run into it blind like
Two faced
Caught in the middle
Caught in the middle
Too late
Counting to zero
Counting to zero
You should have recognized
It's too late for choosing sides
Two faced
Caught in the middle
Caught in the middle
Last time you told me it wasn't true
And pointing every finger at things that you didn't do
So that's why I kept missing the clues
And never realized that the one that did it was you
Your truth's not rigid, your rules aren't fair
The dark's too vivid, the light's not there
I start to give in, but I can't bear
To put it all behind, I run into it blind like
Two faced
Caught in the middle
Caught in the middle
Too late
Counting to zero
Counting to zero
You should have recognized
It's too late for choosing sides
Two faced
Caught in the middle
Caught in the middle
Two faced
I can't hear myself think
Stop yelling at me
I can't hear myself think
Stop yelling at me
I can't hear myself think
Stop yelling at me
Stop yelling at me
Stop yelling at me
