Studio Collection 2000-2012 is compilation album released by Linkin Park on January 15, 2013 through Warner Bros. Records. The album includes all 5 main studio albums that were released from 2000 to 2012 plus the Reanimation album and was released only in digital format.
The compilation was released alongside deluxe editions of 4 albums. Linkin Park put out an announcement about it on socials saying: "Get your LP Mastered for iTunes albums ft. previously unreleased tracks. The Studio Collection is also up".[1], and more detailed one about the compilation and deluxe editions on the official Linkin Park site.[2]
Two versions of the compilation were released and made available on various digital platforms. Standard version containing all songs in their original versions and available in max quality of 16-bit lossless,[3] and the other one available on iTunes as Mastered for iTunes (currently known as Apple Digital Master) and on some other digital platforms in max quality of 24-bit lossless,[4] which consists of remastered in 2012 Linkin Park albums Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora, Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns and includes songs Shadow Of The Day, Waiting From The End in slightly different, alternate version. iTunes and Apple Music description of the album says: Contained herein are Linkin Park's six full-length studio albums released from its 2000 inception through 2012's Living Things. This set also includes 2002's Reanimation: a remix album of Linkin Park's debut (Hybrid Theory), which, creatively speaking, is an album of its own. A massive amount of musical growth is shown here, and fans of Hybrid Theory's nu-rap/metal may not enjoy the experimental electronic hard rock of A Thousand Suns. But for hardcore fans seeking a sensitive remastering job of the band's catalog to date, here are the epic soundscapes, the raw aggression, and the experimental adventures that have made Linkin Park one of the 21st century's most commercially successful hard rock bands. It's all in one place with glorious sound. Only Linkin Park's EPs (like the mash-up Collision Course with Jay-Z), b-sides, bonus tracks, and two live albums aren't collected here. [5] [6] At earlier years the credits for the remastered versions of songs included Justin Smith who work at Warner Bros. as a mastering engineer,[7] later those credits were updated to the original ones, but Justin will be likely the person who remastered those albums, with exception of Reanimation, which along with the bonus tracks from the deluxe editions released in 2013 were mastered by Brian "Big Bass" Gardner, which proofs of that would be songs' credits on digital platforms, which never mentioned anyone else than Brian.
While there were always two versions of the compilation available under two different identifiers on various digital platforms, there was never any reissue of it, various digital platforms happen to treat the compilation differently by using as a main cover for it a Living Things album cover or Reanimation album cover, instead of the Studio Collection cover[7] [8] or sometimes using a different order of the disc in tracklisting. It is unknown if each time, when such an issue is happening, the issue was made by the label or by a digital platform.
Alternate Song Versions
The iTunes and 24-bit version of the compilation, contains an alternate version of two songs Shadow Of The Day and Waiting For The End. The first alternate version of Shadow Of The Day had synth on chorus replaced with strings and one less guitar track.[9] That version of the song was included in 24-bit version of the Minutes To Midnight album, which was released for the first time on HDtracks in 2012, and then after 2012 it was also released on some other digital platforms and other 24-bit editions of it, such as censored edition and deluxe edition. In November 2021 all 24-bit editions of the Minutes To Midnight album and the iTunes/24-bit version of the compilation were updated with a new version of the song that wasn't one to one with the original 2007 version. Instead, it contained differences such as a re-recorded guitar track with a different tone and different notes,[10] and a slightly different mixing/mastering.
The alternate version of Waiting For The End wasn't discovered till 2024, when Papercuts compilation was released. The differences in the song included different effects on Chester's vocals and on the guitar loop at the beginning. [11] That version was released for the first time on HDtracks in 2012, and then after 2012 it was included in all 24-bit versions of the A Thousand Suns album, including censored and deluxe editions. While the song was fixed in the Papercuts digital album in about month from the April 12 release, the version of the song in all the 24-bit releases of A Thousand Suns album and Studio Collection compilation, remains to be the alternate version.

Promotion
The album deliberately skipped physical distribution, focusing solely on digital platforms. That's why the promotion for it featured an extremely minimalist and niche promotional strategy. Instead of a large, global marketing campaign, the band opted for a digital premiere addressed directly to its community. It did not receive traditional press announcements or a media campaign before the premiere.
