"Cut The Bridge" is the third track from Linkin Park's eighth studio album, From Zero.

Background

"Cut The Bridge" is the longest song on the album. It was co-written with Nick Long and Bea Miller. Nick Long was the main co-writer on Blink 182's "Edging" and was the frontman for the band Dark Waves. Bea Miller is a younger pop artist and former X Factor contestant. Bea has worked with Zedd and Justin Tranter before, which may have ended up making the connection to Linkin Park as Tranter co-wrote "Heavy" from One More Light with the band.

The track features back-and-forth vocals from Mike and Emily over a galloping beat, with an aggressive repetition of "cut it down, cut it down down, cut it cut it down" in the choruses. Brad described bouncing between many ideas and guitar riffs in the studio with Mike over the course of three days in the early stages of the song. He explained that they "wound up throwing all of those in the trash and going for this heavily affected version of something we had in the verse, which gave it a colorful, unexpected sound."
