Introduction

The Hunting Party's European Tour in November 2014 was Linkin Park's second tour of Europe for the album, following a short tour in June 2014. This was the first full headlining tour of the continent for The Hunting Party. It set a record for the most shows in Germany on one tour for the band - nine, which broke the previous record of six during the A Thousand Suns touring cycle. All nine of these shows in Germany sold out.

A headlining tour of Europe was booked for fall 2012, but was canceled before it was announced due to unknown reasons, so this was the first tour of arenas across the continent for Linkin Park since October and November of 2010.

Only three shows in England were played, marking a departure from previous Linkin Park headlining tours of Europe where usually four or more were performed.

Before the tour

There was roughly two months in between this tour and the 25 show Carnivores Tour that Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, and AFI embarked on in the summer. In October, Linkin Park visited Brazil for two shows to headline Circuito Banco do Brasil, a trip Brad did not make due to an ear infection. After this, they played the Guitar Center 50th Anniversary Concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles followed by a private 'Stars of the Season' Gala benefit show in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Sets A and B from Carnivores Tour were used at the first three shows of these dates, and a special setlist was used in Arizona. One Step Closer was set to open that show with a fifteen song (60 minute) setlist. Due to the silent auction running late, Linkin Park's set was delayed. The delay caused Final Masquerade, Numb, New Divide (Short), What I've Done, and Bleed It Out to be dropped. Some sort of jam with Papercut and Luis Ortiz (from Million Dollar Listing New York) happened just after the song with Luis rapping in Spanish about the event and how happy he was to be there.

Chester performed one show with Stone Temple Pilots on Halloween, in Connecticut, before flying to Europe to join Linkin Park for this tour.

Summary

Linkin Park rotated the same Set A and Set B from Carnivores Tour during this trip to Europe.

On November 7th, the band played a sold out show in Amsterdam, which they had not played since 2001. The 12th LPU Summit was held before this show. For the Summit, fans were allowed to watch the LP soundcheck (as opposed to the usual acoustic performance), which included a full band jam, a reggae version of Burn It Down, a key and drum jam of In The End, and A Place For My Head. This was the second performance of the reggae version of Burn It Down, with the first coming on August 1, 2013 at a KROQ Rehearsal.

In Berlin before the Oberhausen show, Mike and Joe debuted the Linkin Park Saturn popup store (sponsored by Samsung), which displayed their Berlin Wall paintings that they worked on the prior week. The store also debuted and sold the new LPU XIV merch. At the event, Mike mentioned to fans that the Berlin show would be broadcasted live and released as a DVD. Samsung, who sponsored the popup store, partnered with the band for the broadcast. The broadcast was confirmed on November 12th by Warner Music Germany and SES. It was advertised as the "first live concert in the world to be broadcast at Astra 19.2 degrees East in Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixel) in HEVC standard, at 50 fps and a colour depth of 10 bit." Set A was planned in advance for this show and was used in Oberhausen, Germany on November 9th to test the 4K cameras for the Berlin broadcast.

The footage was shown live but was not released by the band.

The tour marked the first shows in Oberhausen and Bremen, Germany for Linkin Park, and the first shows in Wien (Vienna), Austria and Amsterdam, Netherlands since 2001. This was the third time in the band's history that they performed two back-to-back shows at London's O2 Arena, following 2008 for Minutes To Midnight and 2010 for A Thousand Suns.

Memorable Moments

At 2014.11.20 Bremen, Mike's solo "medley" portion of the show featured the usual Wretches And Kings and Remember The Name, but also a verse of High Voltage. This was the first time Mike rapped the first verse of High Voltage over the medley, and the first time the song has appeared in any form in a setlist since 2009.07.30 Stuttgart when the first verse was rapped over the extended intro of Points Of Authority.

After the tour

After this tour, Linkin Park played two holiday radio shows in December - LIVE 105's Not So Silent Night in Oakland, CA and KROQ Almost Acoustic X-Mas in Inglewood, CA.

The setlist was abbreviated for both shows - the band performed through the second half of Set A, starting with Joe's Solo Medley, and with Rebellion sandwiched between Faint' and Lost In The Echo so that the show fit the time constraints. This was the first time that Joe's Solo Medley opened a show. Tim McIlrath from Rise Against, who would be joining Linkin Park for their North American Tour in January and February 2015, came out as a guest on Bleed It Out at both shows. Linkin Park headlined the Oakland performance and opened for System Of A Down at the Inglewood performance.
