"B12" is the first track on Grey Daze's 1997 sophomore album ...No Sun Today. The song was released as a radio single and became one of the band's two hit songs, along with "Anything, Anything".[1][2]
Background
The band had their first pre-production sessions for their second studio album in February 1996 with David Knauer. There, they recorded a version of "B12". The album version, however, was recorded by Michael Jones during their pre-production session for ...No Sun Today in December.[3]
Sean Dowdell said, "Chester wrote the lyrics to that when he was 12. it was his first lyrically complete songs. Mace and I were screwing around with the music and Chester just came in and started singing the parts, it just fit. The chorus we couldn't find words to put there so Chester just started saying hooray hoorah and we loved it..."[4]
Amends Version (2020)
Grey Daze included "B12" on their 2020 album Amends, with re-recorded instrumentals and using older takes of Chester's vocals. The song features guests Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer of Korn and Brennen Brochard, Marketing Manager at Club Tattoo. It was produced by Alex Aldi.
In the Amends track-by-track with Apple Music, Sean said, "The guest guitar players on this song are Head and Munky from Korn, who were a pleasure to work with. You couldn't pick a more relevant song as far as the state of the world right now, and it was written 20 years ago. Chester wrote 100 percent of the lyrics on this one, and it's about the chaotic system we live in. He's talking about governments crumbling, overbearing SWAT teams and all the shit that's happening around us. It's got that angst that you know and love Chester for. You can hear it in his voice."[5]

Live
According to Mace Byers, "B12" was one of the biggest crowd pleasers. Kerry Rose, the band's manager said, "The album was a huge success, scoring a local radio hit with "B-12". We were now drawing up to 1,500 people to a show at the Electric Ballroom."[3]
