"My Bluest Day" is a song created and recorded by Grey Daze before the Wake Me sessions.

Background

"My Bluest Day" was recorded sometime in June 1994 as part of a 6-track demo which predates the recording sessions for Wake Me. Although Jason Barnes plays on the song, it was written with the band's previous guitarist Steve Mitchell.[1]

The recording was done at Teething Studios, Scott Crowley’s apartment studio. He was from a band called “Nihil”. Jonathan Krause said, "He had a digital recording studio. I thought the drums sounded cheesy they were way to electronic. But it was free so who's complaining?" Sean Dowdell adds, "It wasn't a studio. It was his apartment and he and I recorded it on a very small recording program on a computer. Home recording though, not studio."[2]

Lyrics

Album Version

So tired / You've got a dam deep down inside yourself
Stay true, yeah / Somebody's bound to find a fault in you
Grey clouds covered up my sky
Grey clouds suffocate my mind
Keep cool / You've got everything I need, oh
So strong, yeah / Another bust, we have to be so wrong

So much kept inside my world
So much kept inside my twisted world / Big world
So much has changed
So much has changed

So tired / You've a dam deep down inside yourself
Stay true, yeah / Somebody's bound to find a fault in you
Grey clouds covered up my sky
Grey clouds covered up my sky
Grey clouds suffocate my mind
Grey clouds suffocate my mind / My mind
