"Devil's Drop" is the nineteenth track on the soundtrack album Mall (Music From The Motion Picture) by Chester Bennington, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda & Alec Puro.
Background
"Warm Spell" was a demo created during the Living Things sessions. The title was first seen on a song board during the LPTV episode about "Roads Untraveled".[1]
When working on the soundtrack for Joe's film Mall with Alec Puro, the band revisited the song. Mike Shinoda started to mix the soundtrack for a release in October 2014 while Linkin Park was touring in Brazil.[2] Although the song was credited as "Warm Spell" on the film, its title was changed to "Devil's Drop" for the album.
During a VyRT chat on February 4, 2015, Mike said he came up with the main guitar line in "Devil's Drop" in the midst of a band meeting and recorded himself playing it on his iPhone so that he would remember it. That very recording, complete with other band members talking over the guitar-playing, formed the backbone of the eventual song.[3]
A couple of days later, Mike posted on his Twitter: "Trivia-the guitar loop on DEVILS DROP was a recording on my phone, during a band meeting the 1st time I played it"[4]
The version of "Devil's Drop" used during the movie is a demo version of the track.

Though Linkin Park never played the song live, once Mike Shinoda revived his solo project, Fort Minor, "Devil's Drop" was included in the setlist he played, after the mashup of "Castle Of Glass" and "Kenji". The song was remixed, adding additional drums to the track, and Mike played a new guitar part over it. The song was cut from the Rock Im Sektor show due to time constraints.

Brad: Thank you.
[Brad, Chester and Mike laughing]
Landing in the Devil's drop
I walked out in the snow
And climbed up to the mountain top
A push from death below
Brother fell protecting us
Somewhere far from home
Lay him down to rest with us
In fields of earth and coal
Oh
Woah, oh
Oh
Woah, oh
Sailing out away from this
To ports of foreign shores
Let us not forget to miss
The ones we cannot hold
Oh
Woah, oh
Oh
Woah, oh
Landing in the Devil's drop
I walked out in the snow
And climbed up to the mountain top
A push from death below
Brother fell protecting us
Somewhere far from home
Lay him down to rest with us
In fields of earth and coal
