"Osiris" is the third track on the "Dropped Frames, Vol. 1" instrumental release by Mike Shinoda.

Background

"Osiris" is a song by Mike Shinoda made during the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, the global pandemic created by the COVID-19 coronavirus caused communities to quarantine at home. During this time, Mike Shinoda decided to start live streaming online and inviting fans to watch him create new instrumental music.

"Osiris" was a track made by Mike on April 15, 2020 under the working title "CoronaJam 4.15.20."[1] This CoronaJam was based on "a nasty flute loop" that Mike selected.

While introducing the session, Mike said, "Alright you guys I'm feeling this one today. I'm feeling it! It's going to be a good one. I have made a weird flute loop. Let me show you what I found this morning. I'm going to pitch this thing, it's too high. But I went in and I saw this Kontakt instrument discovery series, a West African Fula flute. And I don't know what a Fula flute is, apparently it looks like that. I put a bunch of little notes in, maybe I should do a little variation on it. I'll put a second little variation in before I print this thing."

On his June 30, 2020 stream on Twitch announcing the album and debuting the three pre-release songs, Mike said, "This one's called Osiris, it's track 8 on the record that comes out next week. So this was one of the more chill tracks, I love how the ending played out. I remember like, I feel like when I'm making a beat on the live stream, I get in a zone and then I just... I remember that zone. It's a really weird feeling, I like remember that weird moment. But that's probably one of my favorite moments in the whole thing."[2]

The end of "Osiris" segues into the next song on Dropped Frames, Vol. 1, "Babble Bobble."
