Background
A band called "The Girl Scouts" was initially announced to remix a track on Reanimation.[1] The name comes from the side project of Cheapshot and Vin Skully (credited as Jubacca) of Styles Of Beyond, who were eventually credited for the remix of "Papercut". In reality, each of them did their own remix of the song and Vin Skully's was picked for the album as explained by Cheapshot:
"Mike & The LP gang were gracious enough to ask if Vin Skully and I wanted to do a remix for Reanimation. Skully submitted a demo (dope) and I submitted a demo (sucked). They chose Vin Skully's and while he spent hundreds of hours working on it, I was playing Tony Hawk 3 in the background mastering my manuals while silently resenting him for being better than me at producing. But since we are production partners I took half of the credit and accepted my platinum plaque as if I were Diddy. End of story."[2]
Rasco and Planet Asia, both from the rap duo Cali Agents, guests with rap verses on the track. According to Rasco, Mike had approached he and Planet Asia at a show they did in Portland asking if they'd "be down to get in on the project" and they both said it was "something we'd like to do so we came into the project together". Their verses were recorded at Mike's house. It took about an hour to come up with the verse, and about another hour to record it.
Speaking to Linkin Park fans, Rasco said: "I think maybe they were looking for maybe a more straight forward approach to the song, so I think that's why they got me and Asia on that track We tried to be ourselves and bring that element Bring new ingredients to that song to make it different the combination of the 3 of us"[3]

Lyrics
Uh, yeah
Ah
Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside
Face that awakes when I close my eyes
Face that I watch every time I lie
Face that laughs every time I fall
It watches everything
So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right underneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
Hey yo
Here we go again with the pain I feel
Is it real or in my mind
When I found myself in places
With names but not faces
My memory races at speeds
Hundred degrees, my soul bleed
Devil must've planted the seed
Now it feels like my back's against the wall
I'm taking the fall
Whenever I call nobody's responding at all
I don't know whom I can trust,
They're screaming my name
I need somebody to help me out of the frame
All I'm trying to do is just master me
All I'm tryin' to do is smoke and blast a beat
But something keeps on talking to me consciously,
Responsibly keeps haunting me
From dusk til dawn everything has something for ya
That voice has got you projecting paranoia
Cold sweat, shining on your face exposing your
purpose
And if I ripped off your skin I'd probably find a,
another person
There`s nothing worse than trying to bring yourself up back from the dead
So I advise you listen to that voice in the back of your head
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
It's like I'm paranoid
I feel the light betray me
(Can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin)
The sun
(It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin)
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like

Like a face that I hold inside
Face that awakes when I close my eyes
Face that I watch every time I lie

It watches everything
So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right underneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too
Your paranoia's probably worse
I don't know what set me off first
But I know what I can't stand
Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is
I can't add up to what you can but
Everybody has a face that they hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches every time they lie
A face that laughs every time they fall
It watches everything
So you know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is watching you too
Right underneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath the skin
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath the skin
It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back
