"Fighting Myself" is a song from the Meteora recording sessions was officially released as the second pre-release song from the 20th Anniversary Edition of Meteora.

Background

On the day that Linkin Park released the "Lost" single, Mike Shinoda also discussed "Fighting Myself", saying that he always remembered the song as having two verses and no chorus. When going through material to work on Meteora 20, Mike said that the band's manager sent him a version of the song that he found with a chorus on it. Mike was interested in if multitracks existed for the song, which they ended up finding as well. Mike added, "I got to take them into the computer and pick through what was there and we had the makings of a chorus that was like 90% done." So he went back in and picked through the multitracks to put a chorus together. He said that the chorus was "90% finished" and he would still change some things to finish the song if it were for the album, but that fans will think it sounds completely finished.[1]

Mike also called the song "a definitive Linkin Park track" and he lightly touched it to mix it for the release, adding, "I really wanted to keep it true to the initial intention, because I didn't want to taint this time warp. What I love about the three new songs is that all of them represent a different facet of the band, as it was in 2003."[2]
