"Gacela Intro" is a fan-titled name to the live show intro Linkin Park used in summer 2004 in Europe, Asia, and on Projekt Revolution 2004.

Due to the legendary status of the Rock am Ring 2004 concert, it is a commonly known intro amongst fans.

Background

The intro is titled "Gacela Intro" after the sampled vocals coming from "Gacela Of The Dark Death" by Joan Baez, which Linkin Park used in a build-up instrumental directly into "Don't Stay" to start the show. The North American Meteora Tour in January, February, and March 2004 had "With You" open the show, but "Don't Stay" returned starting in the summer in Europe and stayed for the remainder of the year.

Versions

Note: Only the date of the very first release of each version is listed.

Live

The version of the intro after Europe and Asia in June 2004 underwent a slight change, with the band adding bells to the start of the intro for Projekt Revolution 2004.

The intro itself debuted on June 3, 2004 at Download Scotland and was last performed on September 11, 2004 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Two live releases contain the intro - Live In Manila 2004 and Live In Denver - Projekt Revolution, both from the Meteora 20th anniversary box set.

Lyrics

I want to sleep the dream of the apples
To withdraw from the tumult of cemeteries
I want to sleep the dream of that child
Who wanted to cut his heart on the high seas
I don't want to hear again
That the dead do not lose their blood
That the putrid mouth goes on asking for water
But all must know that I have not died
That there is a stable of gold in my lips
That I am the immense shadow
Shadow of my tears
I am the immense shadow
Shadow of my tears
I am the immense shadow
Shadow of my tears
Shadow of my tears
Shadow of my tears
Shadow of my tears
Shadow of my tears
