Template:Song "Julio's Revenge" is the third track on the Dropped Frames, Vol. 2 instrumental release by Mike Shinoda.

Background

"Julio's Revenge" is a song by Mike Shinoda made during the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, the global pandemic created by the COVID-19 coronavirus caused communities to quarantine at home. During this time, Mike Shinoda decided to start live streaming online and inviting fans to watch him create new instrumental music.

"Julio's Revenge" was a track made by Mike on May 20, 2020 under the working title "5.20 FF7 Horror."[1] "Julio's Revenge" was the result of a mashup between two fan request ideas, for "Final Fantasy" and "horror film score."

Mike said, "Ladies and gentlemen we have a fun stream today. I pulled a bunch of stuff, I pulled a bunch of sounds. I've got two versions of this because I don't know what is going to work better. This one I made in Maschine. In Maschine, what Native Instruments has done, is they have these note repeat buttons. You're used to hearing it with like, a hi-hat, that's how a lot of people use note repeat. You can also use it if you want to get tricky, on the device if you select keyboard and select a key and a chord... let's say C major and then you add a note repeat and it'll do the beat repeat but it'll do it with notes from your scale. And you can change those. They have some built in sequences. You can also change how long the notes play."

He added, "So I wanted to play with this one. The only problem is, it's a built in number of notes in a scale and again, if you're paying attention with the math, if the scale goes up and down, at the top and bottom of that scale, it needs one more note to complete the grid. So the grid is let's call it sixteen steps and if you're got a pattern that's fifteen, then it's going to cycle too early. If you've got a pattern that's seventeen, it's going to cycle back too late. So I may have to write this in and then tweak. But these types of things are actually a lot of fun to kind of sketch ideas, so for example, the Final Fantasy thing. I'll put it on once so it'll just hold the chord. So, these are the Final Fantasy kind of vibes. I'll start there and we'll see what happens. Let me do my own pattern, because I don't want to feel like I'm ripping off Final Fantasy. So let me make a couple that are interesting to me. Let's go minor because then it;ll be closer to the horror movie thing. So now you're going to hear Final Fantasy done in minor key."
