Brad gave the keynote address for the College of Letters and Sciences graduation ceremony at UCLA. He replaced James Franco, who canceled a few days beforehand. During his keynote, he stripped down to a Bruins basketball jersey and shorts and performed a short Britney Spears cover. The YouTube description of it reads, "Brad Delson, UCLA alum and guitarist for Linkin Park, strips down to a Bruins b-ball jersey and shorts; channels Britney Spears; talks about James Franco, Conan O'Brien, Jamie Foxx and Ellen DeGeneres; and offers some poignant words of wisdom in his spirited keynote address at the UCLA College of Letters and Science commencement ceremony on June 12, 2009."

On June 5, 2009, UCLA announced, "Brad Delson, a UCLA alumnus and lead guitarist for the Grammy-winning band Linkin Park, will deliver keynote remarks at the UCLA College of Letters and Science commencement ceremony on June 12. Delson earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies from UCLA, graduating summa cum laude in 1999. Delson was picked based on recommendations from a selection committee after the scheduled keynote speaker, actor and UCLA alumnus James Franco, canceled the week prior to the event because of filming commitments."
