Template:Infobox song "Get It" is the tenth track on Fort Minor's We Major mixtape.
Background
"Get It" is a Styles Of Beyond song produced by Scoop DeVille.
"Get It" is named after, and samples, Jame's Brown's "Funky Drummer" jam session from 1969 which is one of the most popular tracks sampled in modern hip hop music. The sample comes from near the end of the jam, when James Brown counts down "one, two, three, four... get it!"
The chorus of the song spells out "S", "O", "B" as Ryu and Tak explain what the abbreviations are for in the following lines. The beat features the flute in the verses and chorus.
The song was first released on Fort Minor's Sampler Mixtape in fall 2005 to Fort Minor street team members. The version on the Sampler Mixtape features two rewinds of the first "yeah" by Ryu in the intro. At the end of the song, there are shout outs by Styles of Beyond. Ryu says, "hey yo, what up, this is Ryu from SOB, Fort Minor in the motherfucking house. You just get heard Get It off the Fort Minor mixtape. Demigodz in the house, professional lit slickers, put that shit up and show the bitches we're shining diamonds over here, this is Machine Shop, holla at me." Tak says, "yo what up, this is Tak from Styles of Beyond, and you're listening to the Fort Minor sampler, album in stores The Rising Tied November 22nd." And Cheapshot adds, "Yo this is DJ Cheapshot, representing Styles of Beyond, you're checking out an exclusive preview of Fort Minor's The Rising Tied, dropping November 22nd, 2005."
In October 2005, it was featured on Fort Minor's We Major mixtape as well. It is the only track solely by Styles of Beyond on We Major. The version of "Get It" on We Major features DJ Green Lantern scratching the "get it" sample from the end of the chorus over the end of "Petrified (Doors Remix)", the track before, and into the beginning of "Get It". It also features several rewinds by Green Lantern of Ryu's intro to the song, as well as the acapella chorus of "Be Somebody", the next song, at the end.
The full version of the track, at 2m 59s, appears on the S.C.O.M. / Dolla / Get It / Spray Paint + Ink Pens promo vinyl released by Warner Bros. in 2006 where it was released in three versions - explicit, clean, and instrumental.
The track did not end up appearing on the Styles of Beyond 2012 Reseda Beach album or the 2007 Razor Tag mixtape although it was a new song from 2005.
