|
"Dolla" is the third track on Fort Minor's We Major mixtape.
Background
"Dolla" features Mike Shinoda and Styles of Beyond.
The main guitar on "Dolla" is a sample of "The Ocean" by Led Zeppelin. Vocal samples from "The Ocean" are also present in the song. The song features vocals by Mike and Styles Of Beyond.
"Dolla" was originally released on Fort Minor's Sampler Mixtape, which was given for free to members of Fort Minor's street team in summer 2005. On the Sampler Mixtape, a sample of The Doors' "Five To One" began the song. This was the work of DJ Cheapshot, who cut the mixtape for Mike.
It was then re-released on Fort Minor's We Major mixtape in October 2005. The re-release of the song features a sample of the movie "Gangs of New York" that says, "that's how you stand up against the rising of the tide" and it lacks the "Five To One" sample.

Live
"Dolla" was featured in the earliest Fort Minor setlists, being performed at the group's first show at Pukkelpop 2005. It was originally featured as the second-to-last song in the set, but was quickly moved up near the start. After this movement, it stayed in the third position of Fort Minor's sets for all of the subsequent tours.
On occasion, during the Minutes To Midnight touring cycle, Mike's verse from "Dolla" was rapped over the extended intro of "Points Of Authority". It appeared starting at the Woodlands, Texas stop on Projekt Revolution 2007, and saw its last appearance in Lexington, Kentucky on the 2008 North American Tour.
The song returned to Fort Minor's sets when Mike revived the project with "Welcome" in 2015. It was shortened to only featured his verse with a new guitar part performed under it. It was coincidentally performed in the third slot of the setlist, just like the years before.

Lyrics
Come on!
Yeah! Like that y'all...
Uh huh.
Woo!
Like that!
Aw, yeah!
Fort Minor, S.O.B.
It sure is fine
Yeah
Like this, listen...
Attention please, I only need a second,
To make a mental impression directly on any record (so),
Gimme space to move, room to prove I'm stupid with with the B's and Q's,
Ladies and gentleman I'm sending you better,
Pretending the pen is a needle I'm injectin' the venom,
And I'll be damned if I let another man get to me,
I'll bruise you with a shoe to the family jewelry!
I'm back with fury attack quickly,
Sick with a BIC pen all up in your shit man!
You never knew a flow as sick as this,
Bitch listen when I'm letting you know,
Got a grip on these tracks that you wish you got,
Got a clique full of assholes I kid you not,
So when that mixtape's done and that album drops,
Ryu, and Tak and Me, got it loaded and locked,
Believe it!
You still breathin'?
I'm cockin and squeezin',
Tucked still? Nope I dont give a fuck who sees it,
Broad days, sittin sideways, stuffed in a small cave,
For three fucking weeks till you reek like dog waste, (Uh)
Really, I put a punk in his place,
Let's see if he freestyles with a pump in his face,
Got something to say? Please, better keep it a secret,
The street's got hideous ways of handling beef bitch,
So eat shit, hate it or love it the underdogs on top,
Gettin faded, tellin' people to suck it,
Buckin' em down for real, while you fuckin' around,
I'm stuck in a house for months tryin' to sharpen my skill,
So how does it feel?
You lames wanna claim my throne?
You got a better chance getting Danny Hayes on the phone,
Good luck, I flame suckas till they're black and crispy,
Sneaking heat up in the club like a flask of Whiskey (Uh!)
Yeah, I'm here to crack the roof in,
You got a nice watch but your raps are useless,
You better cut the crap before I snap some nooses,
And leave you all snoozin on some afternoon shit,
Yeah, I hit the streets with a cake and batter for fun,
Just to spit bleach in his face,
It's lunchtime punk open the face,
Hit you with a punchline till you choke on your teeth,
Catch me at a show rockin' in that tipsy mode,
Like angels and demons unlockin Da Vinci's code,
One drop in the canister, people split the globe,
Blowin' every planet to shit once I hit the road,
Uh! You in a tight nitch, cut you with Apathy,
I'm on the night shift, see I hustle like Cassidy,
So kill that chit chat and let the west coast see,
One of the illest names Ribkat from S.O.B.
C'mon.
Aw, yeah!
It sure is fine
