Background
The track premiered on January 19, 2016 by Rolling Stone and was accompanied by an interview with Mike Shinoda.
The original track appeared as the final track on Aesop Rock and Homeboy Sandman's 2015 collaborative EP, Lice, which was released for free download. On the original, producer Charles Hamilton chopped up the guitar riff and vocals from Linkin Park's "One Step Closer".
Mike's remix, attributed to Fort Minor, was described by Rolling Stone as "a hard-swinging, quasi-industrial noisescape full of rattling percussion and barking pups".
Homeboy Sandman, spoke to the magazine about the remix: "The first time I blasted that remix in my speakers has been the only time that my neighbors have had to ask me to turn the music down. What I love most about it is that the beat is still hard as hell but really hand-crafted around me and Aes' verses so our lyrics resonate even more than in the original. … Suffice it to say that [he] completely laced this shit."
Mike also said:
"I don't know how long I've been talking to Sandman. We had talked about doing something together at some point. It was just kind of casual, and then he sent me the "Get a Dog" original track. He emailed and said "Copyright infringement." I thought it was hilarious. … I thought the beat was cool, but I also thought it'd be nice to have my touch on it … to actually remove the Linkin Park sample and do what I would have done today, you know? So yeah, I asked him for the acapella.
He's absurd. How does somebody write words that have every human emotion, and the actual content of the words he's saying is so compelling, and so three dimensional, and from song to song there's so much variety. It's hard to do that and have a really great rhyme pattern and delivery. Like usually people lean on one or the other, and he just does it all like it's nothing. They're such a good pair, because Aes is like … The complexity of his flow is so unparalleled, too. He almost ends up going in a fine art direction with his words. His words are more abstract. You've got one guy whose words are rooted in total reality, and another guy whose words take you to another dimension. And that's such a fun combo to me.
I mean my vibe was I wanted to keep it grimy. I wanted it to feel like the lyrics of the song, you know? It was just on my laptop, and then I just checked the mix at the studio. Linkin Park's in the studio right now, so I just brought it over to the studio to tweak the mix a little bit, to just tighten it up."[1]
Starting on August 02, 2016, a limited edition vinyl of Lice featuring Mike's remix was sold on the Stone Throw Store.[2][3]

Lyrics
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
Rather than whine and bitch in the war zone
It's Aes, I, and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"
I be just trying to warn folks
Sun be going nut, whole lower torso in your horoscope
Gimme a break, I'll be walking dead, gimme a base
Watch for walking dead eating your brains
I repped the struggle despite the subtle taste of cod
Boy sand, in the place to be, by the grace of God!
I step in the arena bumping Step in the Arena
Green wayfarers, no gray hair, it's a patina
Don't play fair, you could tell by how he share his pizza
The 60/40 special from a porky Ebeneezer
Reppin’ La Isla Bonita, brace for the brain rot
Four eyes, corners like a marble in a maze box
Set your phasers, obey or catch the vapors
My 1,2, unscrew a player from his trainers
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
And if you scared, get a dog
Yapple Dapple, rappers like crabs in a barrel
Get trapped and blanched and snap crackled
I’m Ginsberg interning at the Magic Castle
I’m Bob Ross, happy accidents and rad afro
Back and a tad wacko in laughably bad graphics
The class act travel in batches of Mad Max’s
And savages who still haven’t changed out of their pajamas
Luckily I never show up on your cameras, It’s bananas
I sit and meditate until the answer come
Sand is back and teaching rappers how to spell chrysanthemum
From holding hands with cats that barely know the half
I barely even knew the half of em
But keep the Valentine's Day homecourt
Sonic catcalls from the steps, Jah bless
Bacon and eggs for cooler heads, hedging my bets
Force of habit had me almost care
But I nipped it in the bud, and now I'm almost there, yeah
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
Great Scott, good gracious, and oh no
Hi def, all close ups and slow mo
My skin is amber like a ripened bud
My adversaries tryna spill my capillaries full of viking blood
I seldom like what they be hyping up
So people wanna fight then tell me lighten up
What? I'm just tryna enlighten 'em
Beyond "Yo, I just didn't think it's slammin'"
My t-shirt isn't pink, it's salmon
Old school, new school, no school
These bass lines ain't raise no fool
Aes AWOL outta homeroom
Heads up, show up in the throne room
Hoping for a breadcrumb, throw up in the show room
Wait show ‘em how the rogue do
March to his own with the clone-proof
Songbirds perched on my finger at the window
Admittedly the rest of my life is a fucking shit-show
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
So it appears we do not get along
Say what?
So back up off or get involved
Say what?
And if you scared, get a dog
Yo, get a--get a wolf--get a Husky that looks like a wolf
Get a Iditar- you know the dogs that run the Iditarod
Get a dog from the Iditarod
Which is supposed to be a... a tough dog
And it's strong like a... like a rottweiler
Uh, a boxer dog, not a Pomeranian dog
