"Home" is a non-album single by Mike Posner written in collaboration with Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, who also produced the song.

Background

On March 25, Mike Posner announced the release of his new single, titled "Home": "I’m doing it...you guys have been asking for new music and here it is. The first step is take on step. “Home” is that first step, pre-save / pre-order now!!"[1] Mike Shinoda shared the teaser on his Instagram stories with the caption: "Excited for you to hear this new song I made with @mikeposner"[2] This is his 3rd collaboration with Posner, following "Prince Akeem" and "God's Lottery", both released in Posner's 2019 album Keep Going.

Posner shared on social media, “After years of life experiences, walking across America, getting bit a baby rattlesnake, and climbing 71 mountains leading to the summit of Mount Everest...I'm finally back home making music. 'Home' is the first of many releases to come and I hope you enjoy the music video which chronicles this life changing journey.”[3] About the song, he commented, “If I did my job well, “Home” pulls out the crystalized longing that was in my heart before I walked across America and climbed Mt. Everest so everyone else can see why I had to do those things.”[4]

Music Video

The official music video for "Home" was edited by Logan Meis and released on April 8, 2022 with footage by Mike Posner and his trainer Dr. Jon Kedrowski documenting Posner's journey to the top of Mt. Everest and culminating with his arrival at the summit on June 1, 2021 at 4:35 am. He dedicated his climb to the Detroit Justice Center. To prepare, he climbed 71 mountains and trained for a year and a half.[4] The video is dedicated to mountain guides Dawa Dorje Sherpa, Dawa Chirring Sherpa as well as Dr. Jon Kedrowski.[5]

I'm ’bout to do this shit
Sick of sitting here
Only got a couple years before I disappear
I don't know
I'm just a man
But there’s more inside me than these people understand

Oh, I think it's time I went and found a way

I'm looking for something different to clear my mind
I'm headed to someplace distant, that I might not find
And I know that you're worried
I won't make it, but
No, don't worry
I'm gon’ make it home (Home)
(Home)

I could die
I’ma do it though
Hope my life becomes a symbol of what's beautiful
Take it therе
Make it back
All these pеople think I’m crazy, I'm okay with that

Oh, I think it's time I went and found a way

I'm looking for something different to clear my mind
I’m headed to someplace distant, that I might not find
And I know that you're worried
I won't make it, but
No, don't worry
I'm gon' make it home
