Linkin Park took 2004 by storm, playing 77 shows from January to September and covering four continents - North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. The year kicked off with a massive Meteora North American Tour of 34 shows, the band's largest headlining tour in the United States and Canada ever. Many sold out arenas later, they earned a well-deserved break until summer. In June, they did a short run of nine shows in Europe and Asia that took them from some of the world's biggest rock festivals in Download Festival and Rock am Ring to Southeast Asia where they headlined a mix of five shows throughout the region.

Clips of the show can be seen on the LPTV Episode 8 of Projekt Revolution 2004, released in 2007 to promote Minutes To Midnight.
Just before the third edition of Projekt Revolution 2004 kicked off, Linkin Park and Jay-Z played their famous Collision Course show at The Roxy in Hollywood. A few days later in Cincinnati, Projekt Revolution began and quickly became one of Linkin Park's most beloved tours by fans.

As was customary for a new tour, Projekt Revolution 2004 was treated to a new setlist by LP. Building off of the new setlist in Europe and Asia in June, they tweaked a few things. While some of the changes were smaller, like an altered Gacela Intro with more bells on "Don't Stay" and a shorter jam ending to "Wish", they had a few major changes as well. "Figure.09" was played for the first time in 2004, coming back into the setlist in a big way - with a heavy jam outro that transitioned into "From The Inside" and featured Chester screaming "blood, anger, suffering" on it. And next, "Breaking The Habit" featured a brand new outro transition into "Numb", getting rid of the new "Numb" intro from Europe and Asia.

Surprisingly, "A Place For My Head" was dropped from the setlist due to the appearance of "Figure.09" coming back, but after a few shows on the tour, Linkin Park added "A Place For My Head" back into the setlist to stay for the rest of the tour. As the years went on, the few audience recordings from this tour became legendary in the Linkin Park community for how strong the band's performances were and how impressive the setlist is - many would argue this could be the best setlist in the band's history.

Guest-wise, a few highlights occurred on the tour. Ivan the Urban Action figure came out to show his skills on the "It's Goin' Down" portion of "Step Up/Nobody's Listening/It's Goin' Down", Bert McCracken from The Used joined on "Faint" to scream the bridge and ending, and Jonathan Davis came out to perform his legendary part on "One Step Closer." At at least one show (possibly more), Snoop Dogg came out and guested on "It's Goin' Down" with a verse from his song "Gin and Juice."

On this tour, Linkin Park debuted a new stage. It featured Projekt Revolution 2004-style red, white and black coloring as well as pyrotechnics for the first time in the band's career which were used on both "Crawling" and "One Step Closer."

By the time the Denver show came around, Linkin Park was in quite impressive form live and had just five shows left on the tour before they closed the touring cycle in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Clips of the show in Denver can be seen on the LPTV Episode 8 of Projekt Revolution 2004, released in 2007 to promote Minutes To Midnight.
From Projekt Revolution, Linkin Park released recordings of "Wish" and "One Step Closer" from the southeast USA on the Linkin Park Underground 4.0 CD along with a live video of "Figure.09."
