"Vibe Train" is the sixth track on the album Dropped Frames, Vol. 3 by Mike Shinoda.

Background

"Vibe Train" is a song by Mike Shinoda made during the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, the global pandemic created by the COVID-19 coronavirus caused communities to quarantine at home. During this time, Mike Shinoda decided to start live streaming online and inviting fans to watch him create new instrumental music.

"Vibe Train"" was a track made by Mike on July 13, 2020 under the working title "7.13 Vibe Train."[1] This was a track Mike made himself on "Freestyle Friday" without any fan redemption choices.

Mike said, "Right now, this thing that is playing, these notes are going out to this device here, and then that's going into the tape delay. For now I am going to let this run. This is an 808. I've got a little bit of a beat thing going on up here, let's find out if it's too much. So that'll come in in a little bit."

Later in the stream, Mike said, "Let's take that beat and break it down in that section. Teenage Engineering also makes these pocket operators. They're almost like little calculators but it's a keyboard. Pocket ops. And I can try and use one, I don't know these that well. Let's start by trying to make a noise." After it didn't work, he said, "I've got some weird apps on my phone... let's see if we can find a cool one on my phone. Have you guys ever heard of Bloom? Kind of fun, good for just creating very zen textures. So you can do this on infinite and you can set it to go to bed to, I think Brian Eno created this which is pretty rad. It's an old app."

The track's title possibly comes from Mike's streams around this time always starting with a hype train on Twitch, hence the name "Vibe Train" for the track.
