Background

In late 2006, Clear Channel Music posted the entire The Rising Tied album complete with commentaries from Mike Shinoda before each song. On "Slip Out The Back", he said, "The song ‘Slip Out The Back’ is basically, uhm, it’s just a really deep story, something that I just came up with in my head and has little elements of reality. But there’s… It’s not based on one specific thing. It’s kind of just weird little run-ins I’ve had with people and fans in the past, and what they’ve told me. The idea, the theme of the song being that sometimes in order to be a hero, you have to appear like a coward."

While a lot of the songs on the album came pretty easily, Mike says "Slip Out The Back" was a little tough to do. The song features scratches by Mr. Hahn.
