"Bones" (stylized as "BONES") is a song by Alex McMillan that was produced by Mike Shinoda as a part of his ShinodaProduceMe initiative.
Background
Alex McMillan is one of, if not the most popular, singers who covers Linkin Park songs on YouTube. He also writes and releases his own music under the name Razor Red Noise.
On January 14, 2021, Alex announced on Twitter that Mike would be producing his song "BONES."[1] Mike began producing the song the next day on January 15, saying on Twitter, "Producing another new song! This one is “BONES” by fan-favorite @razorrednoise. Come say hi"[2] Mike introduced the stream saying, "He's got a song, it was written as more of a rock song and I'm wondering if I can take it somewhere else. He wrote it with a couple of guitars, vocals, and there's one backing vocal track. I'm wondering if I can go "not rock" with it and then come back."[3] Right after the session, Alex tweeted, "That was absolutely crazy, THANK YOU @mikeshinoda!!"[4]
On January 18, 2021, Mike returned to the project to work on it more before he wrapped it up.
Release
On February 5, 2021, Alex announced the release of the song for February 12, 2021, debuting the artwork on Instagram with the announcement that day, saying, "BONES (PRODUCED BY @m_shinoda) releases FEBRUARY 12. Link in bio to pre-save on Spotify."[5]
