Background

"YO" was an instrumental demo recorded during the Minutes To Midnight sessions. During the Making Of Minutes To Midnight documentary, the song can be seen on the band's computer screen under the title "Yo (Unsolved Mysteries.Taxi)". A clip of it was first released on Monster Energy's hotsite for Linkin Park on February 14, 2010 as a ringtone named "Brad's Yo".[1]

On November 15, 2011, the full instrumental was released on the LP Underground Eleven CD. On the booklet, Mike Shinoda wrote: "This was a demo for Minutes To Midnight. It never got any vocals... We thought this would be a nice way to open up this LPU 11 album."

On June 18, 2020 when making a song from Fort Minor and Linkin Park sounds on his Twitch stream, Mike showed his folder of Fort Minor sounds. "Yo" was included, indicating that it was originally a Fort Minor demo.[2]
