On September 28th, 2009, Dead By Sunrise went to the radio interview program Rockline.[1] There, a fan called in and asked about the meaning of "Walking In Circles".[2] Chester said the song was about not being a sheep in society, and having your own thoughts and your own views, and feeling separated from the rest of society because of this.[3] "Walking In Circles" was among the first batch of songs written for the album, being mentioned back in 2005.[4]

On March 20, 2018, Chester's birthday, a CD of nine Out of Ashes demos was released by LPLive and LinkinPark:br. Recorded at some point between 2005 and 2007, "Walking In Circles" is the first song on the CD.

The song returned to the sets when the band started their promotional tour for Out Of Ashes, with the song coming after "Let Down", where it remained throughout both 2009 and 2010.
