Background

DJ Cheapshot first started to work on the mixtape Cheapshot's Poo Poo Platter in 2002 as revealed in a interview with Urban Smarts: "The Poo Poo Platter will be my production album...me doing beats for multiple artists. As of now, I have songs with Lexicon, Styles of Beyond, Divine Styler, 13 (ABB Records), Ugly Duckling, Celph Titled, Apathy, Louis Logic and am in negotiations with Masta Ace, Big Daddy Kane, J-Zone, Mr. Complex, People Under the Stairs, and Breeze Evahflowin."[1] The title of the mixtape is a play with the term "pu pu platter", which is a tray of American Chinese food consisting of an assortment of small meat and seafood appetizers.

The mixtape finally came out in 2012, being promoted by Lucky Strike Bellevue,[2] a bowling alley/nightclub located in Bellevue, Washington. However, instead of original songs, the mixtape contains remixes of hip hop classics, none of which features the artists Cheapshot mentioned in 2002. Just like Linkin Park's Reanimation, it also contains a few voicemails from other artists, one of them being Mike Shinoda.

Mike's voicemail works as an introduction for Cheapshot's remix of "Remember The Name".
