A full-length demo of the song was leaked in June 2019, but it is different from the version in the LPU video, being only the beat without live instrumentation. Coming in around two and a half minutes, it says the line "you must exercise the proper technique" over and over throughout the demo. There is a sample of an unknown origin in the track that says "molba sekiya."

"Technique" is the second track on the Hybrid Theory EP. The song was written by Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn. It is credited to "Linkin Park & Dave Farrell" on Hybrid Theory (20th Anniversary Edition). Kyle Christener is credited for bass on the original EP but his name was removed from subsequent issues. This happened because his bass tracks weren't used in the EP.[1]

Background

"Technique" was build around strings and bells from both Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Act II: "Un bel dì vedremo" and "Three Coins In The Fountain", the fifth track on Rendezvous In Rome by The Melachrino Strings And Orchestra.[2] The latter gave origin to the song's project name: "Rendezvous".

The "Short" on the title implies that there was a longer version of this instrumental at some point. Part of this longer version can be heard on the LP Underground 7 exclusive video "Glorious Excess Born".

A full-length demo of the song was leaked in June 2019, but it is different from the version in the LPU video, with differences in the bass and mix throughout the track. Coming in around two and a half minutes, it says the line "you must exercise the proper technique" over and over throughout the demo.
