Background

"Opening" is an introduction written for Reanimation by Mike Shinoda, with violin and cello played by Phoenix. The track is listed as "Krwlng Intro" in an early watermarked promotional copy of the album.[1]

In the album credits, the violin and cello are listed as being recorded at "The Stockroom", which was a name the band gave to Mike Shinoda's home studio.

Music Video

The music video for "Opening" was directed by Joe Hahn[2] for MTV2's "MTV:Playback" and features a girl going to bed. The same girl also stars the music videos for "Chali", "Frgt/10", "Riff Raff", "Ntr\Mssion", and "Stef".

MTV: Playback was originally aired on July 27, 2002 at 2:00pm, with a rerun on July 28, 2002 at 8:00pm.[3]
