Jason Barnes came up with the musical idea for "Piece Of My Mind". The song was written before the Wake Me sessions and wasn't considered for the album.
There's no known studio recording of the song, but a live video recording from Grey Daze's show at the Rally Kap Sports Bar in Phoenix, Arizona, was obtained by LPLive member LESTAT from Jonathan Krause on May 25, 2015 and released for free download.[1]

"Piece Of My Mind" was debuted live in 1994. It is unknown for how long the song was played.
