Background

"Never Let Me Down" was recorded around the same time Kenna collaborated with Fort Minor on "Red To Black" and "The Hard Way". The song was created for Kenna's 2007 album Make Sure They See My Face and was co-produced by Mike Shinoda and a friend of Kenna's from his school days, Chad Hugo of the production duo The Neptunes, who was also the producer for the entire album.[1][2]

The song didn't make it on the album and was later set to be released in 2009 on Kenna's MSTSMF Outtakes EP, a collection of unreleased songs from the Make Sure They See My Face sessions.[3] The EP, however, was never released.

"Never Let Me Down" was finally released on January 19, 2010 as part of Music For Relief's Download To Donate For Haiti compilation.

Lyrics

Template:Collapse top

Face to face, falling grace
What an empty and angry start
Out of place and out of phase
As we tear ourselves apart
And through it all
Inside I bleed for something
To fill the void

Even now at the bottom of this fall
I can hear the sounds
Of your promises to never let me down

Wasting time, aching mind
Never let me put you aside
Thoughts conspire, mental fire
Threatening to burn me alive
And through it all
Inside I bleed for something
To fill the void
I gotta feel again

Even now at the bottom of this fall
I can hear the sounds
Of your promises to never let me down

Shadows that I'm falling in
Cycles that I'm killing
Dying in the process
For better days, for better days
I can hear you calling
If I could breathe you in again
Heaven knows I want it

Even now at the bottom of this fall
I can hear the sounds
Of your promises to never let me down

To never let me down
To never let me down
