Template:Infobox song "HT Corona Jam 4.1.20" is an instrumental track by Mike Shinoda made during his CoronaJams sessions in 2020. It was released by Mike on April 2 for free download to members of the LP Underground.

Background

"HT Corona Jam 4.1.20" is a song by Mike Shinoda made during the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, the global pandemic created by the COVID-19 coronavirus caused communities to quarantine at home. During this time, Mike Shinoda decided to start live streaming online and inviting fans to watch him create new instrumental music.

"HT Corona Jam 4.1.20" was a track made by Mike on April 1, 2020, making it one of his oldest CoronaJams done via streaming.[1]

Mike introduced the stream by asking, "Is this "Carousel"?", which is a meme from the band streaming a San Diego 2001 show on YouTube in early 2020 as they couldn't figure out the name of "And One" in the show.

Mike said, "I changed a few settings here today. I set up some quick keys so I can switch to full cam mode and window mode. I set up a toggle on the mic so I can turn it on and off so we won't have the sound issues like we had last time. Today, we're going to do a Hybrid Theory-style demo, or Meteora, or whatever. You know what the deal is. I'll try and explain some stuff as we go. So here's the gear for today - a PRS guitar, again like the other day, I'm using a guitar modular, I'm using a Fractal Axe-FX instead of cabs, like guitar cabinets. But normally when we would record, distortion would basically be like Marshall cabs and heads and MESA/Boogie rectifiers. So that's the distortion vibes. The tuning on the guitar would be a drop D or even a drop C Sharp, today we're using drop D which just means like standard tuning on your guitar but you take a low string and you drop it down a whole step. So that's kind of the vibe, right? And I'm doing the song in D today to make it extra easy to make up your own or follow at home."

He added, "A lot of times back then I would start with mixing and matching major and minors over the chord progression. Like the chord progression might be minor but the stuff that would go over it would sometimes be major. That first chord, I left out the middle third."

Release

On April 2, 2020, the track was released for free to members of the LP Underground. In a message to fans, Mike said, "Hey everyone, While I’m staying home and self-quarantining, I’ve been doing live music-making sessions. I generally start from scratch and build something over the course of about an hour in my studio. Fans can watch in real-time whenever I go live, or you can watch the clips later after they’ve been posted. Today I felt like making a Hybrid Theory / Meteora-inspired instrumental demo, and I wanted to give the final product to you in the LPU. Enjoy the music! -m"
