"Drop" is the seventh track on Urban Network Magazine's 1998 hip-hop compilation Rapology 14. The song was reissued in 2000 as the seventh track on Rapology 19 under the title "Drop R14 Revisited".

Background

Rapology was a series of promotional / industry-only hip-hop compilation CDs issued by Urban Network Magazine[1] from 1992 to 2001.

"Drop" is one of many short interludes by the same title found in the album. This song in particular was produced by DJ Cheapshot and performed by Styles Of Beyond. The track features a laugh by Tak in the beginning.

Ryu explained how Styles Of Beyond got in the compilation, "I think that came from a connection between Tak's brother Bilal and Lee Cadena. Also, RIP Lee Cadena. He was an SOB supporter from the start of our career, and played a big role in giving us a platform to showcase our music. We'll always appreciate him for that." The Styles Of Beyond logo was previously featured on the cover of Rapology 11, to which DJ Cheapshot said, "Joe Hahn (and I think Mike) used to work at Urban Network. I would imagine one of them had a hand in designing the artwork and snuck our logos in there. Nice!"[2]

Lyrics

Album Version

Ha ha ha

Yeah yo
Ryu and Tak
Uh uh uh
Urban Network
What what
Hey yo
Styles Of Beyond

Yo it's the Rapology saga beyond
No apologies, no alarms
No suprise though
My rhyme flow
Disguised as a MiG that flies low
Jams radars and rigs
SOB recharged status in Cairo
Launch a rhyme rocket and drop sonics
Stereo sound barriers pop when I rock various phonics

Hey you, huh, Mr. Lee Cadena
Listen, listen to the Rapology banger
Coming out the noble with the flamers
Hey Macarena
Urban Network's below major
Takbir and Ryu two triple zero four crew (what)
Styles Of Beyond on Winnetka Avenue
The independent explosival pummel residue
So while you on the ground we're bumping on level two

Yo
Urban Network serving
Smack it till your flesh hurts
They call me Tiger Chen
Let's eliminate the guesswork
Untouchable like Eliot Ness
and Internet sex, the ninety next
Version of rhyme merging with spy tech
You just learnt to walk
You ain't flying yet
You gotta know things
Before you grow wings
And call yourself a pirate

So we invented this rhyme
Way ahead of its time
Shredded its size
We've worked it from eleven to five
But first ever who tried I
Severed the thigh and
Cleverly crept through the back and into the sky
You can ask Lee Cadena who's the intelligent guy
Critical rapology no one else ever survived

Hey yo, what up, Lee Cadena
It's Ryu and Tak
Just Urban Network
Making it serving it hot
From block to block
Rapology kings rock
A style that don't stop
Two thousand hip hop
Lee Cadena, what's up
It's Ryu and Tak
Just Urban Networking it
And serving it hot
From block to block
Rapology kings rock
A style that don't stop
Two thousand hip hop
Yeah yeah
Urban Network
Yeah hey yo
Styles Of Beyond
Yeah Ryu and Tak
Uh uh
My man Lee Cadena
Uh uh
Out
