"Come On"
Song by Grey Daze
Recorded:October 06, 1994
Writer:Chester Bennington, Sean Dowdell

"Come On" was a song created during the sessions that led to the recording of Grey Daze's first studio album, Wake Me.

Background

Jonathan Krause came up with the musical idea for "Come On", describing it as a "mostly bass driven song".[1] It was written with the band's first guitarist Steve Mitchell.

On October 6, 1994, the very first day of working on Wake Me, the album's producer David Knauer recorded Grey Daze playing live in his studio to see what they had in store for their debut album. He recorded their performance straight to DAT tape and had Chester say the name of every song so it was documented on tape as well.[2] "Come On" was among the songs that didn't make the album.

Lyrics

Album Version

Get up!
Down!

Where have I begun?
Who am I?
I chose to wait alone with crazy eyes
Some tears I will not cry 'cause they won't wash away
Wish I could feel alive
Wish I could feel deprived

Come on, I've called you
Don't pass me by, I feel too cool
Come on, I've called you
Come here
Yeah!

Some tears I will not cry 'cause they won't wash away
Wish I could feel less pain
As the sky, yeah

Come on, I've called you
You're too high for me, and it's all true
Come on, I've called you
Come here

COME ON
Come on [x16]
Yeah
