"Catharsis" is a song released by Mike Shinoda from his MTV VMA 2005 Score.

In 2005, Mike Shinoda and Lil Jon were asked to score that year's MTV Video Music Awards. Mike commented, "The challenge was that they needed variety. I did 10 tracks, a couple of them a lot of Linkin Park fans will recognise the sound, while others are different, all the way down to some really stripped-down hip-hop sounds. And within each piece, there are different parts."[2] They did not collaborate on any track.[3]

"Catharsis" and "Teletronic" were aired on the MTV VMA's, but not released by as a part of "The Leak" at the time.[4]

In December 2009, "Catharsis" was used in the LP Underground 9 trailer released by Linkin Park.[5]

In response to fans who started asking for the full score in early 2010, the tracks were uploaded to Mike Shinoda's SoundCloud page and made available for free download. "Catharsis" was among them.

Samples of "Catharsis" were released on the "Stagelight: Linkin Park Edition" software in 2012 under the name "Neo".[6]
